VOLCAN REEF
The Volcan Reef is a barrier reef. Panama is also known for its many fringe reefs. The Volcan Reef has created a unique underwater topography affecting currents in the Caribbean and providing an ideal home for many sports fishing favorites.
FISHING THE REEF
Fishing along the edge of the Volcan Reef is a favourite offshore fishing ground. Many of our largest catches, including Tarpon, Kingfish, Snapper, Wahoo, Grouper, Sharks, Great Barracuda, African Pompano and Cubera Snapper among others, have occurred while fishing along the Reef. Its Panama sport fishing at its best!
The Volcan Reef is the first and last location all our guests fish. When our boats leave Shelter Bay Marina for the open sea, they head straight for the reef ensuring our guests are fishing the “big-game” within minutes. And on their way back to the marina, we travel along the Volcan Reef the entire way.
ACTIVITIES ALONG THE REEF
In addition to being a home to some incredible fishing, the Volcan Reef is a spectacular location for snorkelling and spear-fishing for smaller fish, lobster and crab and maybe even swimming with a whale shark.
