Belen River Tarpon Lodge is the first full-service Panama sports fishing lodge on the Caribbean coastline. The Belen River Tarpon Lodge is located in a small fishing village called, Belen, near the mouth of the infamous Rio Belen – home to enormous schools of Tarpon and other sports fishing favorites.
Belen is the location where Christopher Columbus landed on his fourth exploration of the Americas in 1503. This quaint village is home to about 100 people of mixed American Indian ancestry comprising approximately 30 households. Belen is approximately 70 miles (112 km) west of the city of Colon and approximately 100 miles (160 km) east of city of Bocas Del Toro and is part of the province of Colon – situated just east of the border shared by Colon and Veraguas provinces in Central-West Panama.
Belen River Tarpon Lodge is located on the pristine Caribbean coastline just a few minutes walk from the center of Belen at the mouth of the Belen River – which today is just as it was the day Columbus landed there over 500 years ago.
